Ferrules are used to join two composite rods or tubes together. They also enable you to use shorter carbon or fiberglass rods or tubes and assemble and disassemble your final product so you have a smaller package for traveling. Ferrules can connect internally or externally; however, Pultruded Carbon Tubes can only be ferruled externally. Internal ferrules are used to connect wrapped or filament wound profiles.
  • External Aluminum Ferrules

    External Aluminum Ferrules --

Aluminum ferrules are a lightweight method of fitting two short rods or tubes together and creating a longer spar. These ferrules fit sizes .157" through .625". Sizes .180” and .210” of these external ferrules can also be used as internal ferrules for Avia Sport XL wrapped carbon tubes.

  • External Brass Ferrules

    External Brass Ferrules --

External Brass Ferrules are made to accommodate smaller sizes of fiberglass and carbon rods. These micro ferrules are good for connecting two lengths of rod or making a kite more compactable. They can be crimped or bent into a dihedral or angled connection.

  • External Steel Ferrules

    External Steel Ferrules --

External Steel Ferrules are used to connect hardwood dowels and solid and tubular fiberglass rods to make a longer spar or to make a kite more compactable. They are not ideal for use with carbon rods due to their weight. Steel ferrules can be dimpled to keep rods from sliding through and in most cases bent to create an angled connection.

  • External Fiberglass Ferrules

    External Fiberglass Ferrules --

External fiberglass ferrules are cut from standard filament wound epoxy tubes. They are used to join two lengths of composite rods and tubes together to form longer fiberglass or carbon spars for kites, tents, and other products. All ferrules are named after the fiberglass tubes from which they are cut.

The lengths of these ferrules may vary about +/- 1".

PLEASE NOTE: The FL-602 ferrules will only fit over .500" BLACK fiberglass rods due to the nominal outer diameter being a bit smaller than .500". In order to fit over a .500" WHITE fiberglass rod, the rod will need to be sanded down.

  • Internal Fiberglass Ferrules

    Internal Fiberglass Ferrules --

Internal Fiberglass Ferrules are either solid (IFS) or thick hollow tubes (IFH) and are inserted inside the ends of two tubes to connect them together. Internal ferrules make a smoother connection that does not have the bulk of an external ferrule. It is helpful to glue the ferrule into one tube.

The lengths of these ferrules may vary about +/- 1".

  • Long Internal Fiberglass Ferrules

    Long Internal Fiberglass Ferrules --

Long Internal Fiberglass Ferrules are used for large framework structures that require additional support and strength. These ferrules are named by the outside diameter of the tubing from which they are cut. FGH stands for Fiberglass Hollow and they are a thick-walled tube built for strength. These ferrules are cut from pultruded fiberglass tubes.
